Ready for road and trail
Honda have reborn the CRF300L with a lightweight chassis, slimmer bodywork and boosted power and torque from the engine. But, while the specification has improved, the brilliant dual-purpose formula stays the same. The qualities that make it so good off–road – slim proportions, peppy throttle response, agile steering and supple suspension – also make it brilliant around town. The CRF300L enlivens any weekday commute with an enjoyable, satisfying all-round performance. And, come the weekend, this is a motorcycle born to explore.
First, let’s do the numbers.
The CRF300L is 4kg lighter, thanks to its new frame and tapered aluminium swingarm, which you’ll notice the moment you change direction, on or off-road. The larger capacity single-cylinder engine produces an extra 1.9kW power with 4Nm more torque – which you’ll feel when you tap open the throttle – and now features an Assist/Slipper Clutch. Ground clearance is increased, and the riding position is tailored for complete control, with a slim fuel tank and seat, contoured for comfort and easy ground reach. A Gear Position indicator for the dash and an aggressive new headlight design are the smart finishing touches.
The CRF300L draws DNA from the incredible CRF450R and CRF450RX competition bikes.
So it starts in a great place. And, thanks to HRC and their racing programme, Honda have improved every aspect of its dual-sport performance. Ground clearance is improved by 30mm, to make bumping off kerbs (or over logs) so much easier.
Seat height gains 5mm to 880mm, improving natural control, while the narrow fuel tank means you can move forward freely. Whether navigating rough city streets or conquering new trails – or both in a day – the CRF300L is born ready.

Honda have increased cubic capacity resulting in an extra 1.9kW peak power, at 20.1kW and 4Nm more peak torque, at 26.6Nm and delivery is crisp and instant. The engine also has full EUR05 compliance.
The Assist/Slipper Clutch eases upshifts and manages rear wheel ‘hop’ under hard braking and rapid downshifts, for extra control around town in busy traffic. And it’s essential when navigating challenging off-road terrain.
Honda have cut a total of 4kg out of the chassis thanks to a new frame design and a lightweight, tapered aluminium swingers. A new forged aluminium bottom yoke also saves weight with improved stability. Improving off-road ability, there’s a total 285mm of ground clearance.
For natural control off-road you need to move freely. The redesigned 7.8L fuel tank is narrower and saves weight. Matched to the re-contoured seat, it allows easy weight transfer forward to elevate front tyre grip.
43mm Showa USD forks feature a spring rate and damping calibrated for both road and off-road riding. The rear single-tube Showa mono shock, with 40mm diameter cylinder, operates through Pro-Link.
For sensitive, powerful braking, the floating 256mm wavy disc is gripped by a two-piston calliper. Two-channel ABS allows the option to switch off the rear calliper for off-road riding.
Easy-to-read information is laid out clearly and features a speedometer, rev-counter, fuel gauge and clock, and now also a gear position indicator.

Adventure, Everywhere
Made for the adventurous dual-sport rider, the new CRF300 RALLY is a small capacity machine packing serious credentials. With styling drawn directly from the competition-specification HRC CRF450 RALLY, it adds long-range ability and comfort to its off-road performance thanks to a large fuel tank and wind-cheating nose fairing and screen. Now lighter in weight, with more power and torque from its engine, the CRF300 RALLY is the perfect travelling partner – around town, or around the world.
More power, less weight and improved comfort set for new horizons.
Honda have cut a full 4kg out of the CRF300 RALLY’s chassis, and built an extra 2.7L capacity into the fuel tank, for greater range between fill-ups. To add comfort for those long days in the saddle, the handlebar position is higher. Seat height is 10mm lower and there are now rubber inserts in the footpegs. And the liquid-cooled, 4V DOHC single-cylinder EURO5-spec engine is equipped with an Assist/Slipper Clutch and produces more peak power at 20.1kW, with improved torque of 26.6Nm, for strong all-round response. There’s also extra ground clearance – always welcome off-road – and a Gear Position indicator in the dash.
The open road beckons. Where will it take you?
The CRF300 RALLY is about the freedom delivered by the lightweight chassis, long-travel suspension and responsive engine. But it’s also about independence; the long-range autonomy that a big fuel tank allows, added to the sense of go-anywhere potential stored away in this motorcycle’s comprehensive abilities.
It is engineered to serve up a real taste of adventure to riders that want an easy to manage machine, whether for the daily commute, weekend tour or global journeys. All of the detail improvements – more power, less weight, larger tank range, improved riding position and extra ground clearance – combine to further perfect a quest-ready package, wherever you’re headed.

Developed from the parts used by the competition-only CRF450 RALLY, the ‘floating’ screen – along with the upper/lower fairing and side shrouds – effectively shields the rider and offers excellent protection from the elements.
Giving an increased range of over 400km the fuel tank grows 2.L, to 12.8L with a 1.6L reserve. Unlike most dirt bikes, the flat filler cap is hinged for clean, easy-fill convenience.
Piercing dual LED headlights provide excellent forward visibility on and off-road. The indicators are also bright LED.
Extra displacement delivers a healthy and responsive 26.6Nm peak torque, with 20.1kW peak power. The engine all now features an Assist/Slipper Clutch to manage rear wheel ‘hop’ during rapid downshifting and hard braking.
Honda have cut a total of 4kg out of the chassis thanks to a lightweight tapered aluminium swingers and redesigned frame. At the same time ground clearance increases 5mm, to 275mm, while the long-travel Showa 43mm USD forks and rear shock provide excellent suspension reaction.
For powerful braking on any surface, the two-piston front calliper works on a floating 296mm wavy disc. For off-road riding, there’s an option to switch off ABS control of the rear calliper.
Stylish black Alumite 21-inch front/18 rear aluminium rims wear dual-purpose block pattern tyres. Both wheels will also accept more off-road focussed, enduro-style tyres.
